How Well do You Know Your Dog Breeds???


Six NEW breeds made their debuts at last week's Westminster Kennel Club...this meant that these types of dogs are found in at least 20 US states.  Have you seen one of these anywhere?


Norwegian Lundehund

Double-jointed, cliff dwelling breed. Fanciers of the breed call themselves Lundetics!




Entlebucher Mountain Dog

A loyal, beautiful breed that looks similar to a small Bernese Mountain Dog.




Xoloitzcuintli

Pronounced "show-low-eats-queen-t-lee."  This Mexican hairless is one of the 173 breeds that competed at the Westminster Kennel Club Show!




American English Coonhound

This dog breed has origins from hunting hounds brought to America by settlers during the 17th and 18th centuries, resulting in the dogs known as the "Virginia Hounds."








Finnish Lapphund

These dogs are actually are known as former "reindeer herders."  Believe it or not!
 






Cesky Terrier

The Cesky Terrier was created by a Czech breeder, František Horák, in 1948, as a cross between a Sealyham Terrier and a Scottish Terrier, to create a terrier suitable for hunting in the forests of Bohemia.

There are always New Breeds at Art Paws...

This year the Norwegian Lundehund debuted at the Westminster Dog Show.  Known for having up to ten toes on each foot, these dogs are bred to hunt puffins.

Norwegian Lundehunds can also wedge themselves into crevices "Bugs Bunny style" to catch their prey!

So, wonder what we will see this year at Reno' 12th Annual Art Paws, Sunday, July 15!  Canine Contests, Dog Agility, and Pet Portraits, Plus..Artown has definitely Gone to the Dogs!

Art Paws occurs during the month of July is part of the 16th annual Artown festival, July 2012. The month-long summer arts festival features more than 400 events produced by more than 100 cultural organizations and businesses in locations citywide, with major funding provided by the City of Reno. More than 5000 people and their pets are expected to attend this year's Art Paws.

Art Paws is the perfect venue to market your pet-related business, art work, and animal-related non-profit organizations.
